Working remotely? Here's where to live in Bangkok.

BY PHONGSAKORN "BANK" THAVORNAN · LAST CHECKED NOVEMBER 2026

The short answer

Start with Ari, Phra Khanong or On Nut. You don't commute every day, so you don't need to pay central-Sukhumvit or Silom rents to be near an office. Listed rents for a furnished one-bedroom there ran roughly 11,000–22,000 THB a month in Q2 2026, against 25,000–38,000 THB in Silom–Sathorn.

How I ranked them

Rent you actually payCafés you can work fromQuiet at homeStill on the BTS

No place is bad. Each one just fits a different life.

S

S tier — live here

Cafés, calm, rent that makes sense

Ari

BTS ARI · SUKHUMVIT LINE (NORTH)

1BR · 15,000–22,000 THB/mo

Why it works: Independent cafés on quiet, leafy sois, and a slower pace than Sukhumvit — easy to make a routine here.

Watch out: It sits on the northern BTS line, so Sukhumvit evenings and the big international schools are a longer ride.

Phra Khanong

BTS PHRA KHANONG · SUKHUMVIT LINE

1BR · 13,000–19,000 THB/mo

Why it works: A real neighborhood feel two stops from Thong Lo, with rents well below it.

Watch out: Some sois run long from the station — check the walk in the midday heat before you sign.

FULL GUIDE AFTER THE WALK

On Nut

BTS ON NUT · SUKHUMVIT LINE

1BR · 11,000–16,000 THB/mo

Why it works: The lowest rents on this list, still on the BTS, and street food on every corner.

Watch out: Busier and louder near the main road, and fewer quiet cafés to work from.

FULL GUIDE AFTER THE WALK

A

A tier — great, if the budget fits

Lovely, but you pay for it

Phrom Phong

BTS PHROM PHONG · SUKHUMVIT LINE

1BR · 20,000–32,000 THB/mo

Why it works: A park, malls and everything else within walking distance.

Watch out: Much of what you pay for is convenience built around an office life you don't have.

FULL GUIDE AFTER THE WALK

Thong Lo

BTS THONG LO · SUKHUMVIT LINE

1BR · 22,000–35,000 THB/mo

Why it works: The best cafés and evenings on the line.

Watch out: Rent, and weekend noise on the busier sois.

B

B tier — works, with trade-offs

Great trains, not great quiet

Asok

BTS ASOK · MRT SUKHUMVIT

1BR · 22,000–35,000 THB/mo

Why it works: Where the BTS and MRT meet — you can get anywhere fast.

Watch out: Busy and loud, and you pay for a commute you rarely make.

FULL GUIDE AFTER THE WALK

C

C tier — probably not for you

Paying for an office you skip

Silom–Sathorn

BTS SALA DAENG · MRT SILOM / LUMPHINI

1BR · 25,000–38,000 THB/mo

Why it works: Lumpini Park is right there, and it makes sense if you sometimes need the business district.

Watch out: The highest rents on this list, mostly for being close to offices you won't go to.

Questions

People also ask

Why is Silom so low on this list?

Silom–Sathorn is a great place to live if you work there. For remote work, you pay the highest rents on this list mainly for being near offices you won't use.

Which is the single best area for remote workers?

There isn't one. If you want cafés and calm, Ari. If you want a neighborhood feel and a lower rent on Sukhumvit, Phra Khanong. If budget matters most, On Nut.

Do you only cover these seven areas?

For now, yes. I add an area only after I have walked it myself.

Still not sure?

Tell me how you work. I'll narrow it to two.

I'm an agent and I earn a commission when a deal closes — which is exactly why I won't put you somewhere that doesn't fit.
